Hydrofluoric (HF) Acid Wastewater System

Hydrofluoric (HF) acid is used in the production of semiconductors and solar panels and the wastewater produced from using this chemical is treated by precipitation, flocculation, clarification and sedimentation.

BW Water can design HF treatment systems based on the principle herein which is fully automated where the wastewater is pumped to a single stage treatment tank system, pH adjusted within the required range and where calcium chloride or lime is added to neutralize the fluoride ion. A polymer is then dosed to ensure the formation of larger floc for ease of settling.

Clarification is then used to remove the suspended solid and create a sludge that is dewatered by a filter press or belt press. The sludge cake will then be disposed of by the client to a specialist vendor for landfill.
